Storm Hockey is here to stay in the Quad Cities as both parties agree to 5+5 Arena Lease Agreement
Sep 01, 2026
MOLINE, IL - The Quad City Storm and Vibrant Arena at The MARK have executed a new five year lease agreement, securing the Arena as the Team’s home through the 2030-2031 season with an option to extend the lease and additional five years. The new lease marks the first time in Quad City hockey history an ownership group has secured a new lease or lease extension beyond their original lease agreement.
“In 2018 we started the Storm to be the community’s team,” said owner John Dawson. “As we prepare to drop the puck on the ninth year of Storm hockey it is an incredible feeling to know we have received the support of the fans, City of Moline and Arena Executive Board to continue to bring hockey to the community for the foreseeable future.”
Lease negotiations have been ongoing since the summer of 2025. Support from the Illinois Quad City Civic Center Authority, City of Moline and new arena Executive Director Rik Edgar were all crucial in finalizing the agreement ahead of the 2026-2027 season.
“We knew instantly from our first meeting that our goals for positive community impact were the same,” said Arena Executive Director, Rik Edgar. “We created a contract that reflected what was in the best interest of the Storm, Vibrant Arena and the community. The structure of our deal came together quickly and we are happy to announce that we have a decade-long commitment to our partnership.”
Opening Night of Storm hockey is October 17th when the Storm battle the Peoria Rivermen in the Cold War on 74. A pregame laser light show and magnet schedule giveaway highlight the kickoff to the season.
