Storm Acquire Huntsville Havoc Duo in Trade

Dec 26, 2025

MOLINE, IL - The Quad City Storm has announced a trade with the Huntsville Havoc, sending the playing rights of forward Cole Golka to Huntsville in exchange for forwards Nathan Berke and Ashton Paul.

“We respect Cole’s wishes to play his final season closer to home and wish him nothing but the best,” said Storm Head Coach Shayne Toporowski. “We are [also] extremely excited to add two dynamic forwards who we believe will make a difference in our lineup now and for years to come.”

Golka departs the Quad Cities as one of the most accomplished players in franchise history. He ranks third all-time in franchise history in points (117) and goals (60), sixth in assists (57), and appeared in 142 games, the fourth most in franchise history. The Alberta native made a lasting impact both on and off the ice during his time with the Storm.

Storm owner John Dawson wishes the former Storm player nothing but the best in his future, saying, “Cole was a shining example of what it means to be a Quad City Storm player. We are sad to see him wearing another sweater, but happy for him to be back on the ice.”

Team President Brian Rothenberger shared similar sentiments stating, “After the way his last season ended, it is exciting to see Cole back in the league. It is bittersweet to see him playing for a different team, but I know he is doing what is best for himself and his family.  In my mind, he will always be a member of the Quad City Storm family.”

In return, the Storm welcome Nathan Berke and Ashton Paul, both in the midst of their rookie professional seasons.

Berke, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound forward from Williamsville, New York, has recorded 13 points (7 goals, 6 assists) in 22 games this season. Paul, a 6-foot-2, 179-pound forward from Manitoba, Canada, has appeared in 21 games, tallying four goals and two assists.
