The Quad City Storm Announce Five Year Extension with UnityPoint Health - Trinity

Sep 27, 2024

MOLINE, IL. – The Quad City Storm and UnityPoint Health® - Trinity are excited to announce a five-year extension to the organizations’ exclusive partnership.  Since the Storm’s inaugural 2018-2019 season, UnityPoint Health - Trinity has been the team’s exclusive hospital.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership as the official medical sponsor with the Quad City Storm,” said Trinity Health Foundation President, Mary Macumber-Schmidt. “This ongoing collaboration allows us to support not only the health and wellness of the players but also to extend our commitment to the entire community. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier future both on and off the ice.”

The Storm is preparing to drop the puck on its sixth season of hockey.  Over the last three seasons the Storm has seen attendance increase 55% and is coming off a record year for attendance in a single season.  When the puck drops on Opening Night, Storm owners and Quad City natives John and Missy Dawson will become the longest-tenured owners in Quad City Hockey History.

“We feel incredibly fortunate to receive the support from community partners committed to the success of hockey in the Quad Cities and the Greater Quad Cities community as a whole,” said Storm owner John Dawson.  “UnityPoint Health - Trinity and the Trinity Health Foundation have been behind us from the start, and it is not an exaggeration to say we would not be here today without their continued support.”

Many of the hundreds of passionate physicians, nurses, and staff in the UnityPoint Health - Trinity system have treated and provided care for Storm players over the last six seasons; none have been more involved than team physician, Paul Wang, M.D., who shares how the coverage provided to players is an extension of the outstanding care all Quad Citizens receive in the UnityPoint Health system.

“Our priority is to ensure that the Quad City Storm players receive the highest level of medical care, enabling them to perform at their best,” Dr. Wang said. “The same great care we provide to the hockey players is extended to all our patients, ensuring everyone in our community benefits from the same dedication and expertise.”

As a part of the continued partnership, the Storm and UnityPoint Health - Trinity will team up to host the 6th Annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025.  To date, the Storm organization has raised $117,842.70 in conjunction with the Trinity Health Foundation for the Trinity Cancer Center.
