LEIF MATTSON NAMED WARRIOR/SPHL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MOLINE, IL. – The SPHL named Quad City Storm forward Leif Mattson and Birmingham Bulls forward Drake Glover the Warrior Hockey Co-Players of the Week for March 4 - March 10.

Mattson helped lift the Storm to its third consecutive weekend sweep, beating the Macon Mayhem 9-0 on Friday and 7-3 on Saturday. The Manitoba native grabbed 6-points (5g, 1a) and finished as a +7 on the weekend, which helped the Quad City Storm to clinch a spot in the SPHL President’s Cup Playoffs for the second time in franchise history.

Mattson started the weekend scoring twice in Friday night’s contest, including a shorthanded goal in the 3rd period; the ninth goal of the night. The nine goals tied a franchise record for goals scored in a single game. His hot streak continued Saturday when Mattson recorded his third hat trick of the season and an assist. 

The weekend’s efforts pushed Mattson into fifth in the SPHL in goals (25) and put him in a three-way tie for second in the SPHL in points (53).

The Storm returns to action at Vibrant Arena at The MARK Friday March 29th and Saturday March 30th to take on the Peoria Rivermen.

Friday March 29th is Birdies for Charity Night, presented by the John Deere Classic. All John Deere employees receive two free game tickets when they present their ID badge at the Vibrant Arena box office. Tickets can be redeemed now through gameday. The first 1,000 fans in attendance receive a Quad City Storm reversible bucket hat. 

Saturday March 30th we will be celebrating the history of hockey in the Quad Cities with our annual #HockeytownQC night, presented by Quad Cities International Airport. The first 1,000 fans in the arena receive a Tommy Tsicos bobblehead.
