Leif Mattson named Warrior/SPHL Player of the Week

MOLINE, IL. – The SPHL has named Quad City Storm forward Leif Mattson the Warrior Hockey Player of the Week for December 8-December 14. This is the fourth time that Mattson has received SPHL Player of the Week honors in his career.

Storm forward, Leif Mattson made an immediate impact to open the weekend, finding the back of the net just 5:36 into Quad City’s 3-0 victory over Birmingham and adding an assist in the second period. The Storm forward stayed hot on Saturday, scoring twice in a 3-2 overtime win, including the OT GWG. Mattson finished his weekend with a two-assist performance to help lift the Storm to a 4-2 win over league-leading Evansville on Sunday.

Mattson shares the league lead with a +11 player rating, is tied for second in goals (nine) and game-winning goals (three), and ranks third in points (20).
