May 09, 2024

MOLINE, IL. – The Quad City Storm has announced its protected list for the 2024-2025 SPHL season. The protected list is composed of 13 players that ended the ‘23-‘24 season on the Quad City Storm roster. These players are ineligible for recruitment or signing by other SPHL teams.

Forwards:

Logan Nelson: Nelson enjoyed the best year of his career, having recorded 17 goals and 22 assists over 50 games played during the regular season. "Nelly" has continued to put up consistent numbers during his three years in the Quad Cities, which have him sitting 5th in franchise history in goals (36), 8th in assists (42), and 6th in points (78)

Weiland Parrish: Following his arrival in January, Parrish proved to have no issues adjusting to life in the Quad Cities. He finished the season with 11 points (5g, 6a) in 18 games played during the regular season. Weiland also added one goal and two assists over the three games during the 2024 postseason.

Matt Ustaski: No stranger to finding the scoresheet, Matt Ustaski enjoyed the best season of his professional career and received second team All-SPHL honors. He finished the 2023-2024 season with 27 goals and 26 assists over 35 games and found himself in the franchise record book multiple times. In addition to finishing third in goals, assists and points for a single season, he holds the Storm record for longest individual point streak (16 games).

Mike Moran: In his first season as an alternate captain, Mike Moran enjoyed his new leadership role by scoring seven goals and adding 19 assists this season. "Big Mo" currently sits 3rd in franchise history in games played (137), 8th in goals (34), 5th in assists (51) and points (85), and 2nd in penalty minutes (312).

Patriks Marcinkevics: After receiving Marcinkevics from the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs in exchange for Future Considerations, Patriks quickly showed what he is capable of. Over 20 games in the Quad Cities, the Latvia native ended the '23-'24 regular season with seven goals and 17 assists in his first professional season.

Cole Golka: After entering the 2023-2024 season with 32 career goals scored over six years, Cole Golka enjoyed his best season as a professional by scoring his franchise goal total in one season. Golka scored a single-season franchise record 32 goals to go along with 21 assists. During the season, the Alberta native set franchise records for longest individual goal streak (8 games) and goals scored (54).

Leif Mattson: Mattson was a force to be reckoned with during the '23-'24 season, recording 59 points with 28 goals and 31 assists over 45 games played en route to an All-SPHL First Team recognition. His 28 goals and 31 assists were the second most in a single-season in franchise history and his 59 points are the most in a single-season in franchise history.

Defensemen:

Doug Blaisdell: Having led all Storm defensemen in +/- (+11), Doug Blaisdell proved to be a calming presence on the blue line. He does the dirty work, but found the scoresheet often towards the end of the year, scoring twice in the final weekend of the regular season. Blaisdell finished the regular season with 11 points (3g, 8a) and added two assists in the SPHL playoffs.

Michael Greco: Greco spent time in Roanoke, Evansville and Pensacola prior to signing a PTO with the Quad City Storm on February 28th, eventually earning a Standard Player Contract. Greco is a dominating force on the blueline that racked up three assists and 51 penalty minutes in just 9 games at Vibrant Arena.

Jake Maynard: After wrapping up his collegiate career at UMass-Dartmouth, the St. John, Indiana native played nine games with the Storm where he scored two game-winning goals and finished the season as a +6.

Trevor Momot: It was another personal-best season for Trevor Momot. The defenseman recorded 24 points, scoring five goals and dishing out 19 assists - all personal bests. Momot finished the season as the top Storm defenseman goal scorer and finished second amongst Storm defensemen in assists. In addition to finding the score sheet, "MoMo" also recorded a +6, another career-high.

Goalies:

Brent Moran: It was a record breaking season for the Orleans, Ontario native who enjoyed plenty of success in his first year with the Storm. Moran finished the season with a record of 21-11-1-0, 2.81 GAA, a .922 SV%, and three shutouts. Moran set single-season franchise records for wins (21) and saves (1,104).

Bailey Brkin: Brkin finished the '23-'24 season with a record of 6-7-0-0, recording a 3.05 GAA, a .913 SV% and an assist. The goaltender saved 471 shots on the year.
